European elections: Giorgia Meloni head of the list of her far-right Fratelli d’Italia party

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced on Sunday that she will run as the first candidate of her far-right party in the June European elections.

“I have decided to run for the head of the list of Fratelli d’Italia,” Meloni said at a congress of his post-fascist party in the Adriatic city of Pescara.

Giorgio Meloni’s party came out on top in Italy’s 2022 elections with 26% of the vote, and voting intentions remain at that level as the June 6-9 European elections approach.

“We want to do in Europe exactly what we did in Italy on September 25, 2022: create a majority that will unite the forces of the right to finally send the left back into opposition, even in Europe! ” said the prime minister.

“To ask Italians if they are satisfied with the work we do in Italy”

She announced that she would be at the top of the European list after an hour-long speech in which she praised the efforts of her coalition, which has been in power for a year and a half, to fight illegal immigration, defend the family and Christian values.

“I am doing this because I want to ask Italians if they are satisfied with the work we are doing in Italy and what we are doing in Europe,” she said.

“I am doing this because, in addition to being the president of Fratelli d’I talia, I am also the leader of European conservatives who want to have a decisive role in changing European politics,” she said.
